No. VolunPEER™ Mentors are people just like you. They have completed VolunPEER™ Mentor training and now volunteer their time to connect with and support others. They are not mental health professionals and have no formal clinical training, but they understand better than anyone else your experiences, and they will walk beside you for as long as you need.
The VolunPEER™ team matches mentors and mentees based on similar experiences, same groups, cultural competence,relationships or experiences and any other unique circumstances that may lend themselves to mutual understanding and support. You can be assured when your VolunPEER™ mentor reaches out to you for the first time that they uniquely understand many of the feelings and issues you are facing.
